Oh my gosh! I just happened to log onto the site because I couldn't remember the name of the youngest group of soccer players. Our family has some very fond memories of Kevin. He was Joshua's first Scottish soccer coach. He also worked with Kyle in the developmental program and James in FASDA. He was a lovely influence on all 3 boys. I'm sure he is missed by not only Forres Soccer 7s, but the entire community.

Hard to believe in a small town like Forres that I have only just found out that Kev has passed away. It's been a few years since I managed in the Soccer 7's but Cookie was an inspiration. Other posts have said as much but the kids really looked up to him as did many of the coaches and managers. As with everyone else, my thoughts are with Michelle, Hailey, Sean and Keith. Neil McGregor

I was deeply saddened to hear of Kevs death. He was the stead fast rock that guided, year on year, the Forres Area Soccer Sevens to continued greater success. His boundless enthusiasm for the sevens, bringing joy to hundreds of young kids, was never better reflected than in the superb newsletters that he produced. I, and probably a few other parents, have collected these little gems over the years that my kids enjoyed playing in the sevens. These newsletters will always remind me of the great times my kids had playing at Grant park and of Kev. I know Kev never looked for recognition for his own self fulfilment but to me the man and his tremendous community work was more than deserving of an OBE. A true sporting gentleman, Kev is an irreplaceable community person that I will sorely miss along with many others. Thanks, Kev, for everything. Words cannot express my sincerest, heartfelt condolences to Michelle, Sean, Hayleigh and Keith.

I have known kev for a number of years through soccer 7’s and also work at Kinloss, and from those early years I could tell straight away how much of an impact he made at soccer 7’s and also FASDA. He was the linchpin for all activities and contributed tremendous ideas which made the club bigger and bigger as the years have progressed. I have nothing but praise for all the hard work and commitment he and his devoted family have made. He will be sorely missed, I wish to pass on my sincere condolences to Michelle, Sean, Hayleigh and Keith.

We will always be grateful to Kev "Cookie" for the warm welcome he extended to us and our Daniel. He took Dan under his wing and helped him fit in. Kev welcomed kids of all abilities to Soccer Sevens and FASDA and with his encouragement let them be the very best they can be, he gave them so much more than just a game of football. You will be sorely missed Kev but not forgotten. Our thoughts are with your family at this sad sad time. Dave Dawn and Daniel Breerton

We were all deeply saddened to receive news of Kevs sudden death. Rarely in life do you get a chance to work with someone with real vision. Kev had this in abundance and coupled with his endless enthusiasm to see kids develop their footie and social skills led to the Forres 7s being a shining example of how local sport should be. His approach rubbed off - I only signed up for a year, eleven years later I've just about managed to escape! Kev it was privilege to have worked with you, we will all miss you. Our sincere condolences to Michelle, Hailey, Sean and Keith.

Tragic news regarding our mate Kevin. A true football fanatic whose work with the young players in Forres & District is legendary.
When he heard we were staging a tribute game for Rossie Davidson,Kevin offered to help us anyway he could.
As it was,he ended up playing and once again he gave 100%.
No doubt he and Rossie have been re-united up above and they will be talking fitba, fitba and more fitba.
R.I.P. Kev from Roddy and all who took part in Rossie`s game

I have very fond memories of Soccer 7's, even in the wind and rain, Kev was always cheerful and smiling! By his attitude alone he made others want to be involved, and made the young players want to do their best. Although we are many miles away, we are thinking of Michelle, Hailey, Sean and Keith and hope that they take some small comfort in these tributes to their amazing husband and father. So sad to hear that Kev's final whistle has blown. I knew and worked with Kev at FS7s for many years. He was always polite, respectful and full of praise for others. A true example of what FS7s stands for. Always leading by example in his numerous roles as the Chairman, weekly photographer/reporter, fund raiser, coach, referee or whilst playing in the Adult Tournament alongside the other coaches. Kev has been instrumental in everything that the FS7s has achieved so far. Long may his standards and aims for fair play continue within the FS7s. Gone but never forgotten. My sincere condolences to Michelle and family. My thoughts are with you from afar. Jim T

I was devastated to hear about Kev's sudden passing. He had been involved in Soccer 7's almost from the beginning and he had put in so much hard work and commitment to the Forres footballing community. We all admired him tremendously. His dedication to the children and in getting a permanant home for the club means his name will be remembered always. This event is desperately sad for all his friends and family. My sincere condolances to his wife and family.

The kids of Forres will always love you for bringing them the joy of football. But you gave them so much more than that.Through Soccer Sevens you instilled in them true sporting values and the chance to develop lifeskills and friendships that will last them a lifetime.

On behalf of the Forres & Nairn District Welfare FA I would like to pass on my condolences to Kev's family and to your club. What I can say about Kev is that if you look at the amount of players that play in the Welfare League today, a large majority of them have stepped up from the soccer sevens and I'm sure this would not have been possible had Kev not given the time and dedication he gave the sevens set up. He will be a loss to his family, the soccer sevens and to Forres.

Cooky was always an inspiration and now he's a legend as well. He always put the kids first, and set a marvellous example for them to follow. Forres Soccer 7s was part of him, and he'll always remain part of Forres Soccer 7s. It's unbelieveable that he's not around any more, but the new pavilon that he did so much to make a reality will make sure that Cooky's name is never forgotten.
