GLEN URQUHART GIRLS TOURNAMENT 2006
17 June 2006
Nine Forres Flamingos set off to Drumnadrochit on a wet Saturday morning and returned six hours later as champions of the Glen Urquhart Girls Football Tournament. They played four games, scored 29 and conceded 1. Not bad for a bunch of GIRLS...
...Highlights...Highlights...Highlights...Highlights...
The Champions showing their winners trophy and enjoying the moment.
Rachel S

Explosive in front of goal which saw her bag eight goals in the four games. She set up as many as she scored which demonstrates her team involvement, but assistant coach (on the day) Andrew Simons said “Time for a sub Coach. Nothing to do with me… (LIONESS)
Milly

Milly is a little dynamo who’s stop button needs looking at. She battled hard from game one to game four and having scored against Glen B with a well-deserved goal went on to strike the post and come away with knees bloodied and bruised. Milly as the youngest Flamingo is no pussy cat she is a… (TIGER)
Becky Lapington

Beck’s bagged two goals against Kinmylies and Glen Urquhart B Against Glen B, she drove individually and head-strong through the Glen pack and fired home a sweet finish. Solid throughout and a typical Lipington. (SPIDER)
Emily (Em)

Goal-keeper of the utmost superb-la-flamingos. Played three, conceded zero, and to cap it off she came out for the second half against Kinmylies only to bag a hat trick. Casual, in fact too casual as she nearly fell a sleep in the last game. (ROCK)
Rachel F

Faultless in her performance, steady in front of goal, especially against Kinmylies when she helped her side to the 12-0 result by firing home a stunner. She also felt the defensive side of the game as she took a sore blow to the body, but this little battler quickly shrugged it off. (DIAMOND)
Kirstie

“Pinky” was just buzzing, and having only scoring two in the event she was our team’s workhorse. Becoming a thorn in all opposition sides, saw her slinky footwork proved too much for all opposition to deal work and her finishing was second to none. (THISTLE)
Zoe

Nine goals doesn’t give her justice. She worked hard all over the park and ask any opponent, what’s it like to get in front of a Zoe Johnstone shot and they will say is “OOOOUCHHHH”. This little demon (with a new hair-do) was on fire, and dazzled all who watched her. (PRINCESS)
Hannah

She was an absolute peach in every game she played in. Her pace was blistering and her attitude and cheeky smile matched no one on the park. Having failed to score in the competition phase, Hannah, against all odds and against the Inverness Select squad, bagged not only one by two in the final game in this tourney. Her smile sad it all. (BOBBY DAZZLER)
Erin

For once Erin was the quietest member of the squad and for her loyalty and enthusiastic commitment to the Flamingos, I could only pick one person as team captain. (plus Janice gave me a tenner!!!) and this was Erin. Her performance was as expected of any captain, perfect, she battled hard in defence, in midfield and to mum’s surprise she netted a double against Kinmylies. Her face when she picked up the winner shield, was a good sight to see. (you had to be there) (QUEEN of 7’S)
