The Soccer 7’s Football Festival held on Sunday 5th October saw the 2008 season come to an end. Approximately 260 children turned out for a full day of fun football.
The day kicked off at 10am with mini tournaments for all 3 age groups, Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors. The Juniors were playing with mini goals and found the new experience challenging but loads of fun.
The senior mini tournament was won by a very happy Euronics squad.
The senior Cup Final followed the mini tournament and was between R & R Urquharts and Carlton Hotel. A rematch from the play off for the league which saw Carlton win the top place. The game was brilliant to watch with action at both ends but R & R could not stop Carlton Hotel from getting the double in their first season as sevens team.
The two managers v seniors exhibition matches were great fun to watch and saw the managers beat the seniors in both games with a 1-0 win then a 2-1 win.
The Intermediate mini tournament was won by Dental Mechanics and the Junior team Pitman Training took first place in their tournament.
The Intermediate Cup Final between Fraser and Chalmers and Absolute Limos saw Fraser and Chalmers win their second cup in two years.
All participants and spectators said what a great day it had been and the committee would like to thank the barbecue chefs and the girls in the kitchen for all their hard work.
We look forward to another great football festival in 2009.

Saturday 31 May saw 16 teams take part in this years adult tournament at Grant Park. Last years winners Athletico Pathelico returned to defend their title and turned up victorious on the day, winning for the second year in a row.
